Hi! My name is Brooke Sorrells, and I am the owner of More Than Words Speech Therapy. I started More Than Words in July 2022, and I am happy to be serving the Madison/Huntsville area.
I graduated with my Master’s in Speech Language Pathology from the University of South Alabama in 2015 and moved to north Alabama to be closer to my family. After moving here, I fell in love with Huntsville! I initially worked with Restore Therapy services from 2015-2017 in Skilled Nursing Facilities to provide speech therapy services for adults. Here, I specialized in treatment for swallowing, cognition, aphasia, motor speech disorders (such as dysarthria), and aural rehabilitation. I began working with Silver Linings Neurodevelopment in 2017, where I worked primarily with the pediatric population, specializing in speech concerns associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders and ADHD. In 2018, I also provided Early Intervention services for families in our area that qualified, and I loved interacting with and training families in their homes to foster speech and language development with their little ones.
I have a heart for both pediatrics and adult patients, and I look forward to providing therapy services for both in my new clinic.
Hi! My name is Ashley Hill, and I am the new speech language pathologist at More Than Words Speech Therapy. I recently married and moved to the Madison/Huntsville area, and am happy to begin a new therapy journey!
I graduated with my Master’s in Communication Disorders from Auburn University in 2019 Bachelor’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Mississippi in 2017. I grew up in Killen, AL and frequented Huntsville often. I’m so excited to make this new city my home! I began working with Stepping Stone Pediatric Therapy in Florence, AL from 2019-2022. I worked with the pediatric population addressing receptive/expressive language, articulation, oral motor skills, apraxia, AAC, and fluency.
I thoroughly enjoy working with pediatric clients and their families to provide therapy to foster speech and language development.
Meet our new Speech Therapists, Loren Batchelor and Shelby Sheehan! We are so excited to have them join our team!
Hi, everyone! My name is Loren Batchelor and I am a new speech-language pathologist at More Than Words Speech Therapy. I am so excited to be a part of the MTW team! Some facts about me:
- I’m a proud University of South Alabama Alum, with a Bachelor’s Degree of Science in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Go Jags!
- I graduated with my Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology in Spring 2022 from Auburn. War Eagle!
- 2022 was the busiest year of my life, as I graduated grad school, moved back to Mobile, began my clinical fellowship, started a new job, and got married. We’ve been in Huntsville for a year now and we love it so far!
- I love the pediatric population and the private practice setting.
My intervention interests include articulation, fluency, AAC, ADHD and executive functioning, ASD, and voice; however, I also have experience working with expressive and receptive language, apraxia, phonological awareness, and social aspects of communication.
I continue to choose private practice because I enjoy cultivating professional relationships with both clients and parents! I view parents, children, and myself each as integral teammates in speech and language therapy – working together towards your individual goals and progress. I’m grateful to be a part of your therapy team!
